Xcaliber motors deliver increased torque and rotational speed directly to the drill bit. When combined with the rotation of the drill string it has been proven to increasing the rate of penetration (ROP) and providing exceptional angle control. While the initial cost of downhole motors for vertical drilling applications may be higher than rotary drilling costs, the long-term benefits make this option less expensive in the long run.
Benefits include:
▪ Less BHA changes, resulting in fewer round trips
▪ Less formation swelling, caving, doglegs, key-seats, and hole sloughing due to faster ROP and less time in the hole
▪ Lower wear and tear on drill string parts, surface pipes, and casing due to fewer RPM by the drill string
▪ Lower drill string torque combined with faster, smoother casing setting.
